I don't know whether capturing movement or capturing outrageous color inspire me more as an artist...
I do both 'plein air' and studio painting, because one discipline feeds the other and makes 'the capture' of movement and fantastic colors more possible for me. I also do commissions.
Ann holds a BFA from the University of Denver and has studied art at the University of Copenhagen and the Rhode Island School of Design. She shows her work in Hawaii, Maine and California.
Plantscapes, landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes and portraiture hold her interest. In addition, she doesn't shy away from using her work to bring a political message. She also custom paints the rice paper of shoji screens her husband Peter manufactures in his shoji screen workshop at ShojiHawaii.com.
Ann paints with acrylics in her mixed media work and also with oils.
